Biography
In my 40s, I discovered a passion for pottery, thanks to my son, TJ, and his girlfriend, Cat. What started as a family introduction evolved into a deep love for shaping clay and creating handmade ceramics. Pottery has been a transformative journey of creativity and personal growth, and I’m still learning and evolving with each piece I make. In 2020, Cat and I launched Citrus Tree Studios on Etsy to share our rustic pottery and handmade crafts.
While pottery began as a side hustle, I now feel it's time to shift my focus towards growing Citrus Tree Studios into a more central part of my life. Alongside pottery, I enjoy raising chickens, gardening, and beekeeping. I also home-school our youngest son and work part-time as a digital marketing coordinator. I’m excited to embrace this new chapter, focusing on expanding my business, and sharing my creative journey to inspire others to explore and enjoy their own passions.
My goal for my collection of work is to incorporate my own spin on traditional techniques, applying it to functional forms that are usable in everyday life.
I am currently creating works in small batches. Each pottery piece is built or thrown and glazed by hand, so no two are exactly alike.
Artist Statement
In the Bible, the potter’s craft is used as a powerful metaphor for transformation and divine shaping. Just as the potter in Jeremiah 18:4 works the clay into a vessel as it seems best to him, I approach my craft with a similar sense of intentionality and adaptation. Each piece is molded with care, embracing imperfections and evolving through the process. This Biblical imagery resonates with me as I navigate the complexities of creativity, finding beauty in the journey and in the unique character of each creation.
In every pot, I see a reflection of my own growth—each shape and texture a testament to the ongoing process of becoming. I invite you to join me in this journey, exploring the art of pottery and discovering the beauty of creation, both in the studio and in life.
